"Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?"

artielu:

plightofthevalkyries:

Suddenly, there is a great rumbling.

Over hill, over dale, through forest, through fog, they come. Some walk. Some fly. Some crawl. Some simply move deep within the bowels of the earth. They are massive in number, terrifying in their fury. They blot out the sun from the grass below. They nearly shake the earth from orbit with their rage.

They are the English majors.

They give a fuck about an Oxford comma.

The lawyers come to fight for the Oxford comma too. Ambiguity in contract language is no one’s friend.

It’s a metaphor. You’re a metaphor. I’m a metaphor. Your keybord is a metaphor. Everything is a metaphor. The universe is turning into one giant metaphor on a molecular scale. Run. It’s too late.

Heh.

lovemercilessly:

Reasons I think Smee is spying for Zelena:

1. Multiple references to him being a rat. (And by multiple I mean overstated - seriously if all they wanted to do was address the transformation back to human they did it in the robbery scene. They didn’t need to keep mentioning to it every ten minutes)

2. Smee was giving Killian a pretty measuring look when he said that things were wrong because he didn’t have HER. Pretty sure he wasn’t buying “the Jolly Roger is my true love” story. Smee knew something was up. Also I would not put it past him to have used his time as a rat in SB to spy on people and it would have been obvious to him that Killian had feelings for Emma if this was the case and hence the look of “not quite buying it” I saw on his face in this scene.

3. Smee was again present when Killian mentioned his reasons for staying in Storybrooke were his own, right after Emma and Henry come into the scene. That little schemer is not so thick as to not notice Killian’s obvious motives here.

4. Smee is probably really great at reading the people around him, if for nothing else than knowing when it’s time to cut and run in order to save his own hide. He knew full well what selling out Ariel was making a man like Killian feel. This is a man he’s spent countless years with - he knows him we’ll enough by this time that he’s seeing the good man shining thought that vicious pirate veneer and was in a perfect position to observe the ensuing guilt.

4. Smee looks out for Smee above all else. It would be well within his character to be working for Zelena if she threatened him or promised him something. Loyalty is not a strong part of his vocabulary. Pretty sure Smee would sell out his own mother if it benefitted him.

I wondered about Smee too, and these are all great reasons why he is very likely to be a Zelena-spy. I would also add, kind of as an offshoot of #4 (4A, if you will), that Zelena said she knew that Ariel had found Eric on her own out on Hangman’s Island because her “spies are circling everywhere.” That would imply the monkeys (circling in the sky) had seen their reunion…but without having context for why the manner in which Ariel found Eric (i.e. finding him on her own) was important, I don’t think Zelena would have known that she could use Ariel’s face/form to turn the screws of Killian’s guilt. I think she had to have known that Ariel had asked Killian for help and he’d decided not to help her and that that was why she showed up on the Island on her own….I think Zelena would have had to have known the whole story in order to use any of it to play Killian, and just seeing Ariel swim up to the Island wouldn’t have given her the full picture.

So considering how else she could have gotten the full picture, the options are limited - it would have had to have been from someone on board the Jolly Roger when Killian chose to kill Blackbeard and Ariel made her declaration and left. That was Ariel, Killian, Blackbeard, Blackbeard’s crew, and….Smee. Ariel and Killian would never have told Zelena, Blackbeard’s dead, and the anonymous crew members wouldn’t logically be that important in the plot….so, yep, I smell a rat.

"George," said Fred, "I think we’ve outgrown a full-time education."

"Yeah, I’ve been feeling that way myself," said George lightly.

"Time to test our talents in the real world, d’you reckon?" asked Fred.

"Definitely," said George.

That feels like a big fatty middle finger.

I felt the same way when I first read this tweet. What gets me is that I didn’t necessarily hate the episode, but I fell like he’s purposefully stringing us along with the Deeks and Kensi relationship. And not for the benefit of the characters either.
I am fine with Deeks and Kensi not being together just yet, I really am. I mean, personally, I think it’s kind of stupid that two adults who are attracted to each other don’t do something (and I don’t just mean sexy time. Talking would be fine). However, logically I can see why there may be reasons why they would want to take their relationship incredibly super slow. But they have to give us a real reason and tell us with real words. Not a knife sliding across a desk and a look. Not two or three different metaphors that we’re supposed to interpret. Why is it that 10 minutes with a complete stranger who has barely (if at all) seen the two of them interact with each other have a greater impact on the future of their relationship then how they actually feel themselves?
I still don’t understand why Deeks and Kensi are taking a step back from their relationship. Or how that was presented to us in last night’s episode.
So, Dave Kalstein can take his backhanded “fuck you” somewhere else. Being #1 does not mean you made a stellar episode.

All of this.
Also, I’m convinced the next episode he writes is going to have even more metaphors just to spite us.

Nah…by then he will have abandoned language altogether, and it’ll just be 42 straight minutes of Sayoc fights.

I like the way he writes action - 40 minutes of fighting is honestly preferable to last night.

Y’know, it’s true. His fight sequences are usually pretty awesome - that street fight with the abduction at the top was really deftly handled.

awkwardsituationist:

elephants are conspicuously expressive and joyful creatures. when celebrating a birth or reuniting with old acquaintances, elephants will intertwine their trunks together and engage in friendly trunk wrestling. when trying to console a loved one, elephants will stroke or caress each others’ heads and backs with their trunks.

demonstrations of true consolation in animals are rare, and has only been documented in the great apes, canines, and some corvids. this might be because complex cognitive abilities are required for consolation, such as the ability to empathically take the perspective of another. elephants are one of the few animals to pass the mirror test.

with their strong social bonds, it’s not surprising that elephants show concern for others. elephants get distressed when they see others in distress, reaching out to calm them down. the consistency with which elephants responded to a friend in distress is quite remarkable. rarely does an elephant give a distress call without a response from a friend or group member nearby.

What?

Well, that explains a lot about last night’s episode.

That’s so disappointing!

But wait. WHO wrote this? Pretty sure Kalstein doesn’t need hair and make-up- did Eric or Dani write it? Or both?! What was scripted initially?!

It was likely Kalstein - from what I understand (and, mind you, this mainly comes from piecing things about tv production together off of the twitters of writers, actors, and producers) it’s not uncommon on most shows to have conversations with non-actors/production staff/producers/writers in the makeup trailer while the actors are sitting in the chairs getting touched up. So, his presence in the trailer wouldn’t be unusual or out of the ordinary…it just makes me side-eye pretty hard that a scene he describes as “relatively crucial” was getting what sounds like the absolute most last minute of all possible last minute rewrites.

[And yes, what was scripted initially?! Hmmmm?!]
